WANA, Aug 31: Four houses were destroyed when two sub-tribes of Mahsuds and Wazirs clashed over the ownership of land in Shawol, South Waziristan Agency.

Sources said on Sunday that rivals had pounded with modern weapons each others’ positions in the mountainous area bordering Afghanistan.

About 250 families of the Mahsuds shifted to safer places from Shawol as the shootout intensified. More people belonging to Haibatkhel, sub-tribe of Mahsuds, and Khujdarkhel, sub-tribe of Wazirs, occupied the hilltops and joined the battle after a tribal jirga failed to resolve their dispute.

No loss of life was reported.
