KARACHI, Aug 30: Two eye-witnesses in a sectarian murder case identified the chief of the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi and his three associates before an anti-terrorism court on Saturday.

Judge Haq Nawaz Baloch of the ATC-5, who is conducting the trial inside the Juvenile prison due to security reasons, fixed Sept 2 for the next hearing after the deposition of Nisar Hussain and Syed Faiz Hussain.

LJ chief Akram Lahori and three alleged accomplices — Mohammed Azam, Ataullah and Malik Tassaduq, were charged with the killing of a security guard, Mohammed Nazeer, at Mehfil-i-Zainab Imambargah in Rizvia Society on April 7, 2002.

The two prosecution witnesses deposed that they were going to the Imambargah to meet the Pesh Imam when they saw the four accused going on two motorcycles. They said the accused stopped near the small gate of the Imambargah, where guard Nazeer was on duty.

The eye-witnesses said that accused Ataullah opened fire on the guard, who fell on the ground. They said the accused later broke apart the rifle of their victim and rode away on their motorcycles.
