SUKKUR, Aug 30: The DPO, Sukkur, Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh, has said that all the in charges of police stations should remain alert at all times and be responsible for curbing crime throughout the district.

He said this while addressing a meeting of SHOs at his office on Friday.

He said that the SHO concerned would be responsible for the crimes committed in the jurisdiction of his police station.

He said that all the SHOs were bound to arrest absconding criminals of their area so that they could be punished according to the law.

He showed resentment over the availability of drugs in the jurisdiction of some police stations, and directed the SHOs concerned to root out the menace of drugs from their respective areas and send drug peddlers behind bars because they were the enemies of the young generation.

The DPO warned all the officials not to keep anybody in illegal confinement.

He said that if anybody was illegally detained, then the officials concerned would be taken to task.

He said that the police was supposed to facilitate the people, not harass them.

He directed all the SHOs to supply a list of absentee officials to the DPO office so that departmental action could be initiated against such officials.

He said that in future absentee and negligent officials would not be tolerated.

MAN KILLED: Three armed motorcyclists shot dead a man, Ali Bilal Suhrani, 25, at the Clock Tower, Kandhkot, while he was returning from the court on Friday.

He was said to have been killed over an enmity.

SUICIDE: A woman, Nasreen, resident of Gharibabad Mohalla, Kandhkot, immolated herself. She was taken to the Rahim Yar Khan Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
