SHEILHUPURA: A large number of people blocked Motorway between Khanqah Dogran and Pindi Bhattian interchange for three hours on Monday in protest at, what they say, government’s failure to provide them flood related relief.

Protesters said they had been displaced when the floodwater of the River Chenab and the Nullah Saim inundated their localities and standing crops of paddy and fodder in Chenay Virkan, Malah, Dera Dogran and Dera Fazal Din.

They said after the flood, they had shifted to Motorway. The district administration did not provide them relief goods. They dispersed when some philanthropists arranged relief goods for them.

Also, traffic on Sheikhupura-Hafizabad Road remained suspended for eight hours after being inundated by the water of Upper Gogera Canal on Monday.

A 200-foot breach occurred in the canal near Ajnianwala. Irrigation Department plugged the breach after eight hours.
