Canadian-Pakistani music artist, NAS better known as The Spellz has been selected by the online platform GlobalRockstar.com as Artist of the Day. He is also currently nominated for the category of Emerging Artist from Canada on the same platform where online voting closes in November.

NAS is a Pakistani born artist, raised in Lahore and currently living in Canada. He embarked on his musical journey from Lahore in 1999 with an underground band. After moving to Toronto in 2004, he laid the foundation of The Spellz in 2012.

The first song released by The Spellz was 'Master of My Fate', which was an adaptation of William Ernest Henley’s poetry of the same name.

Master of my fate- The Spellz

NAS aspires to become an international musician by integrating the poetry of Sufi Bulle Shah and poet Ahmed Faraz with his music. The artist composes his songs and also writes and sings them. Representing cultural diversity in Canada, his music is a mix of Western rock and Eastern melodies.

He names Guns and Roses, U2, Metallica, Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Abida Parveen, Junoon and AR Rahman as artistes who have influenced him.

He also uses poetry of foreign poets like Langston Hughes who wrote against racial discrimination of 1960s.

Life is Fine is an example of such adaptation.
