TOBA TEK SINGH: A dacoit was killed while his four accomplices were injured in a shootout with villagers near Chak 358-GB, Mughli, early on Monday.

Rajana police said five dacoits came to a mobile company’s Microwave Tower at a deserted place outside the village and held hostage guard Mahboob Alam. They loaded all batteries in their car and managed to escape.

The guard raised an alarm which attracted some villagers who started chasing the fleeing dacoits. Seeing some villagers on their pursuit, the dacoit got panicky and their car hit a roadside tree.

Later, in a shootout with villagers, a dacoit, identified as Tahir Gujjar of Chak 360-GB (Toba), died on the spot while his four accomplices sustained injuries.

The injured dacoits were identified as Adnan, Tanveer, Haroon Gujjar and Zohaib. They were admitted to DHQ Hospital.

ARRESTED: Pirmahal police arrested on Monday three activists of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek.

Those arrested were PAT’s district general-secretary Ghulam Shabbir Warraich, Sakhawat Ali and Muhammad Hanif.

ACTION ORDERED: District Coordination Officer Dr Farah Masood ordered on Monday Kamalia Assistant Commissioner Syeda Ramla Ali to take departmental action against a TMA sub-engineer for illegally collecting money from villagers of Chak 722-GB for filling earth in streets before laying soling.

The DCO also directed the AC to recover Rs275,000 amount from the sub-engineer.

District monitoring officer Asif Ali Dogar held an inquiry and found the accused sub-engineer guilty of charges.
