SUKKUR: Members of a medical board exhumed the body of a youth at the Raban Shah graveyard in the Var-Daro area near Khanpur Mahar in the presence of a civil judge and police officials on Monday to determine the actual cause of death.

Medical Superintendent of Ghulam Mohammad Mahar Medical College and Hospital Sukkur, Captain Dr Jawed Ali Shaikh, Dr Kanwal Kumar and Dr Abdul Khaliq Abro disinterred the body of Younus Mahar who had allegedly been killed a month ago in Sacharo Chak village and took the body’s samples for examination in the presence of Ghotki Civil Judge Abdul Baqi Bhutto and SHO of Khanpur Mahar Rana Nasrullah.

Younus Mahar had gone missing after he went out the house to irrigate land at night a month ago but was found dead the next morning.

The youth’s family accused their rivals of the murder and took the body to the Ghotki civil hospital for a post-mortem examination but some relatives of the youth misled doctors and convinced them to hand them over the body without the post-mortem.

Later, Asghar Mahar, nephew of the deceased, submitted an application in the Ghotki civil court requesting for the exhumation and post-mortem of the body to determine the actual cause of death.
