GUJRANWALA: Two suspects who, according to police, were freed by their accomplices on Thursday were gunned down by villagers in Wahando, the department claimed on Friday.

Police claimed the outlaws, identified as Muzammil Hussain Shah and his brother Shehzad Hussain Shah, had been arrested for their involvement in dacoities and robberies.

SHO Sarfaraz Ranjha along with his staff was taking them for recovery of the loot in Kamoki when four armed motorcyclists attacked the police van and got the suspects freed and escaped.

Police claimed the deceased were looting passers-by near Thapnala Wahando village when armed villagers opened fire on them. Police moved the bodies to the DHQ Hospital for autopsy.

Saddar Superintendent of Police Syed Qarar Hussain claimed the deceased were involved in around a dozen dacoities, robberies, attempted murders and murders.

Meanwhile, family members of the suspects claimed the brothers were in police custody and reports of them fleeing on Thursday were false, and police had killed them on Friday.
