Ravi in low flood

LAHORE, July 23: The Indus and the Chenab are in low flood while the rising water level in the Ravi at Balloki may touch the mark of medium flood in the next 24 hours, reports reaching here on Wednesday evening said.

According to the Flood Forecasting Division, the water level in the Ravi at Balloki was 45,000 cusecs at 6am on Wednesday morning, and was likely to rise as high as 70,000 cusecs.

The meteorological office reported that westerly wave was over north of Kashmir while seasonal low was in western Balochistan and adjoining Iran.

Monsoon current from the Arabian Sea is also reaching Sindh and the southern Punjab, likely to cause isolated showers in the upper and lower catchment areas of all the five rivers.—APP
