LAHORE: An emergency flag meeting between local commanders of Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) and Indian Border Security Force took place at the Sialkot Working Boundary on Wednesday to discuss cross-border firing which left at least two Pakistani civilians dead and several others injured.

Informed sources in Punjab Rangers told Dawn that during the meeting the Rangers commander strongly protested unprovoked firing and shelling by Indian forces on civilian localities in Pakistani territory.

They said Pakistani side also brought into notice of BSF battalion commander the loss of human life and cattle and destruction of public property.

Sources said the meeting occurred two days after firing from Indian side stopped, adding the minutes of the meeting had been conveyed to respective authorities by both forces.
