HYDERABAD, July 23: The family members of three youths who had drowned near the River Indus on Tuesday held a protest against the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) by placing their bodies on a section of the Hussainabad-Kotri road on Wednesday.

The protesters, who were led by Shoban Jamali and Ali Mohammad Solangi, raised slogans against Wasa for not supplying water to their houses in the Masroor Jatoi village in Qasimabad Taluka.

They said that it was the disconnection of the water supply which forced the youths to go to the River Indus to take a bath.

The district Nazim, Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman, MNA Syed Ameer Ali Shah Jamote, police officials and others rushed to the spot and persuaded the villagers to end the blockade.

They assured the protesters that a meeting would be held with the railway authorities and Wasa officials for supplying water.

It may be recalled that Ghulam Ali Mallah, 16, Aachar Mallah, 16, and Qurban Mallah, 20, had drowned on Tuesday.
