KARACHI, July 23: Federal Railways Minister Ghous Bux Mahar has castigated those elements who are creating confusion and dissension in the Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam).

He was talking to newsmen after the ceremony that marked the handing-over of Chinese locomotives to the Pakistan Railways.

When asked about his comments regarding the petition filed by some elements in PML-Q challenging the holding of two offices by PML leaders, the minister said there were many people who are holding double offices including the chief ministers, federal ministers and provincial ministers.

“The practice of holding of two offices has been in vogue since 1985, but what about Nawaz Sharif, Mohammed Khan Junejo, Parvez Elahi, Ayub Khan and others? Were they not holding double offices? he replied.

To another question, he said that there was no need to convene any meeting of the party’s working committee.

He said party workers just kept themselves involved in party activities, but conspirators were busy harming the party. When asked if any disciplinary action would be taken against such elements, Mr Mahar, who is also the president of the Sindh PML-Q, said “we will see to it”.—APP
