KARACHI, July 23: The director general of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Air Marshal Salim Arshad has underlined the need for transforming all the airports in the country into passenger-friendly areas in order to boost foreign investments and tourism in the country.

He was speaking at a two-day workshop, organized by the CAA at the Jinnah Terminal. It was the first of the series of workshops being held for the workers and operators at airports.

He said that regular training of all those working at the airports would be considered mandatory. As such, he added, a well-planned training would be conducted at all the airports.

The Air Marshal regretted that despite being Muslims born in the respectful Indus Valley civilization, most of the countrymen appeared crude and rude by international standards.

“This image of Pakistan must be corrected if we want to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the developed countries of the world.”

He reminded the audience that in all the developed countries and progressive business institutions, customer always holds prime importance. Everything revolves around dealing with clients. Some organizations go to the extent even to declare that ‘customer is always right’. This should also be the motto for all agencies, including ASF, Customs, Immigration, CAA, as well as all the operators and vendors working at the airports, he stressed.

Speaking on the occasion, Capt Amjad Faizi, who is the developer of the course Customer’s Management Relationship Solution, said that bringing about a positive change in the attitudes towards passengers at airports is the need of the hour.

Considering that 75 per cent of the global business depends on the quality of customer service, it is imperative that we develop correct attitude towards providing personalized service to customers, he said.

The workshop is being attended by nominees of CAA, PIAC, ASF, Customs, FIA, Shaheen Airport Services and Gerry Dinatta Airport Services.—APP
