LANDI KOTAL: A driver and his assistant were killed when militants attacked a Nato oil tanker at Jamrud in Khyber Agency on Monday.

Khasadar officials said that gunmen on motorbikes intercepted the oil tanker at Wazir Dhand market and opened fire. Driver Fazal Rehman of Lakki Marwat and his assistant Inayatullah of Landi Kotal were killed.

The vehicle carrying fuel for Nato forces in Afghanistan was damaged in the attack.

After the incident traffic on the Peshawar-Torkham highway remained suspended for an hour.

The incident is the third of its kind in Jamrud over the past 10 days. At least, six transporters have been killed and two injured and four vehicles damaged in the attacks.

Jamrud-based Jaish-i-Khurasan militant group had claimed responsibility for previous attacks.
