Rs50m for sewerage system

MULTAN, Dec 19: The district government has allocated Rs50 million to Wasa for looking up sewerage system in the city.

This was stated by district Nazim Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Wednesday in Basti Sultanpura while addressing a meeting.

He said over Rs400 million were required to address the sewerage problem while work would be completed in different phases.

In the first phase, work in Kutcha Abadis would be taken in hand and for this purpose he had appointed an investigation committee for three marla scheme.

Regarding the shifting of Sabzi Mandi outside the city, he said negotiations were being held and the issue would soon be resolved.

Others who attended the meeting included former MNA Riaz Hussain, former MPA Khursheed Khan and scores of social workers.

THREE KILLED: Three people were killed and 11 received injuries, two of them serious, on Tuesday in a road accident near Khangarh, some 55 kilometres from here.

A bus (MNW-5056) going to Multan from Khangarh overturned near Shaheen Hospital due to the failure of its tie-rod. Fiaz and Shamsher died instantly while Abdul Aziz expired at the Nishtar Hospital. The condition of Sharam Mai and Zakaur Rehman was described as serious in hospital. The remaining nine injured were shifted to the Khangarh RHC from where they were released after the first aid. Bus driver Ghulam Akbar managed to escape from the scene.
