HYDERABAD, July 22: Research scholar Siraj Jamal Siddiqui gave a presentation on the “Public Administration in Pakistan: An Ecological Perspective” for his Ph.D degree at a seminar at the University of Sindh on Tuesday.

He said his research work not only focused on the modern concept of public administration but also on the history of events that had ushered in the era of modern public administration and conditions under which modern public administration thrived.

He said the purpose of the research on public administration was to study the people who had been suffering at the hands of bureaucracy. He said the government and bureaucracy in the country were facing a challenge to provide adequate and long-term support to the masses.

Prof Siddiqui of the department of management sciences of the Sindh University said that in his research work he had discussed in detail the relationship between public administration, political policy and bureaucracy in the third world.

Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, who presided over the seminar, said different governments had initiated reforms but people’s problems had remained unresolved.

He said the people felt neglected due to their non-participation in policymaking process. He claimed that even Nazims in many districts were not allowed to exercise their powers.
