MIRPURKHAS: Kot Ghulam Mohammad police on Monday picked up several persons for interrogation after handing over the bodies of a man and his fiancée, who were found dead in the house of the deceased woman’s parents on Sunday night, to their respective heirs.

Initial investigation suggested that Maqsood Ahmed Arain, 53, son of Mohammad Ismail Arain, a resident of the Bustan area of Umerkot district, visited the house of his fiancée, Sonia Khaskheli, 30, daughter of Mehboob Ali Khaskheli, in the Ward-7 area of Kot Ghulam Mohammed on Sunday.

During the night the sounds of gunshots were heard and police found the would-be couple shot dead in the house. The other people in the house claimed that Maqsood Arain first shot dead his fiancée and then committed suicide with the same pistol.

The police found the pistol lying beside his body.

The man’s body was sent to the Kot Ghulam Mohammad Taluka Hospital and that of the woman to the Mirpurkhas Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination before they were handed over to their respective heirs.

The police said that all people of the house had been taken into custody for interrogation.
