FAISALABAD, July 22: The strike of sizing industries entered second day here on Tuesday as the daily wage workers and permanent employees of the units held protest demonstrations in different parts of the city.

The owners of over 400 sizing units of the country including 150 of Faisalabad are demanding of the government to withdraw the amended taxation policies especially section 40-B of the Sales Tax Act.

Scores of employees of sizing units were seen sitting idle outside their respective factories in different commercial and industrial areas of the city. They feared that in case government failed to resolve the issue within next couple of days, they would be left with no option but to sell their household articles to feed their families.

On the other hand, sizing owners of the city have announced to continue their strike till the acceptance of their demand and that in second phase they would stage protest rallies.

Meanwhile, Anjuman Tajiran Faisalabad, Pakistan Yarn Merchants Association and All Pakistan Cotton Powerlooms Association have asked the government to hold dialogues with the sizing owners.
