ISLAMABAD: The special court set up to try former president Pervez Musharraf for ‘high treason’ on Tuesday summoned the record related to investigation of the case.

The three-judge court, headed by Justice Faisal Arab of the Sindh High Court (SHC), passed the direction on an application filed by Gen Musharraf’s counsel.

Expressing apprehensions that the FIA may tamper with the record, the defence lawyers requested the court to take ‘case diaries’ and ‘progress reports’ into custody.

During hearing, the prosecution team, though rejected apprehensions of the defence lawyers, agreed to submit ‘case diaries’ and other reports to the court.

The prosecution, however, requested the court not to provide the copies of the record to the defence lawyers.

The special court directed the prosecution to submit the record by Wednesday (today) and adjourned the hearing till August 26.

On Tuesday, the court was about to cross examine Maqsoodul Hassan, FIA

director and one of the members of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT). However, due to absence of Gen Musharraf’s lawyer it was postponed.
