MITHI, July 21: Fifteen members of the Tharparkar District Council boycotted its session for some time here on Monday to protest over the absence of the EDOs from the session.

As soon as the council session began, Siddiq Dal, Mohanlal and others pointed out that excepting two, no officer of government department had come to attend the session which showed that they gave no importance to local government system.

Fifteen members boycotted the session for 15 minutes.

When they returned, convener Ramsingh Sodho assured them that the absence of the officials would be reported to the authorities concerned.

Passing a number of resolutions, the council demanded construction of link roads, school buildings, dispensaries, instalment of tube-wells and provision of electricity to more villages of the district.The convener adjourned the session for Tuesday.
