DERA ISMAIL KHAN, July 20: Tehsil Nazim Fatehullah Khan Miankhel has said that no new taxes had been imposed in the Rs 150.78 million tehsil budget for 2003-04.

He was speaking to local journalists at the Dera Press Club on Saturday.

The Nazim said that about Rs75 million or 50 per cent of the total budget had been allocated for development schemes.

He said that the revenue of the municipal committee had increased in the previous fiscal year after recovery of dues from defaulters.

Miankhel said that land worth millions of rupees had also been reclaimed from land grabbers.

Referring to the city beautification plans, he said that the tehsil council would improve parks and public places, beside developing new parks. In this regard, he said, the tehsil council had, in collaboration with a soft drink company, chalked out a plan for remodelling Haq Nawaz Park, adding that a new park would be developed on Dyal road soon.

DUES RECOVERY: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco), Dera Ismail Khan, has recovered Rs90.55 million dues from defaulters in 2002-2003.

This was revealed by Pesco deputy manager Sadiq Khan Dawar, while talking to newsmen here on Saturday.

He said that Wapda had disconnected power supply to some offices of the provincial and district government departments for non-payment of the outstanding power dues.

Mr Dawar said that Pesco teams had been sent to different areas for the recovery of stuck-up dues.
