HYDERABAD, July 20: The Postgraduate Doctors Forum, Jamshoro, has demanded that private candidates of FCPS, part-II, should be paid their stipend.
Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Saturday, leaders of the forum, Dr Riaz Hussain Laghari, Dr Aijaz Shaikh, Dr Shehla Gul Shah, Dr Zubair Ahmad Yousufani and Dr Ms Rana, said 76 postgraduate trainee doctors were working in the Liaquat Medical University Hospital but they were being denied their stipend.
They said trainees working in Punjab, Balochistan and the NWFP were being paid Rs6,210 per month but no stipend was being paid to trainees in Sindh.
They said they had brought this discrimination into the notice of the authorities concerned, including the president, but to no avail.
The doctors said only last week they met the medical superintendent of the hospital. They said the MS had told them that he had held two meetings with the Sindh secretary for health in this regard who had informed him that there was no budget to pay stipend to the doctors.
