Faisalabad T20 fund-raiser generates Rs25m

FAISALABAD: A Twenty20 fund-raising cricket match played between Pakistan ‘A’ and Faisalabad XI here at the Iqbal Stadium on Thursday night generated Rs25 million donation for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan.

The match was declared a tie as both competing teams, Pakistan ‘A’ and Faisalabad XI, scored 156 for the loss of eight wickets off their respective 20 overs.

A large number of fans watched the match under floodlights at the stadium. The administration set up special ticket booths at the stadium for the general enclosure.

On the occasion, three cricket bats signed by prominent cricketers were also auctioned.

The industrialists and traders community has already deposited donation of around Rs60 million in the relief fund set up by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif through DCO Noor-ul-Amin Mengal.

Provincial Minister for Law Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan was chief guest while State Minister for Power and Water Abid Sher Ali, MPAs Sheikh Ijaz Ahmed, Haji Ilyas Ansari, Haji Khalid Saeed, Zafar Iqbal Nagra, Mian Tahir Jamil, Rae Usman Kharl, Begum Surya Nasim, DG Sports Punjab Usman Anwar and others were also present on the occasion.—APP
