KHAR: The local administration on Saturday asked the people to remain indoors after Iftar over security reasons.

Local people told Dawn that the political administration had asked the residents of Khar, Inayat Killi, Sadiq Abad and several urban areas to avoid going out of their homes after Maghrib prayers. “We don’t know the reason but we have been directed by the Levies officials to stay inside and not go to bazaars and public places after Iftar,” said an elder, Dawad Khan of Khar.

According to the local people the administration also directed the traders to keep their shops closed after Iftar. The people said that restriction on their movement would disrupt daily life.

Sources said that shopkeepers of Inayat Killi, the second largest trade centre of the agency, had been directed by the administration to close their businesses before Iftar over precarious security situation.

An official said that the administration took the decision on information that miscreants could target innocent people after Iftari.

The official said that the administration was taking all necessary measures to prevent any untoward incident in the area, while Levies force had been asked to be on alert to thwart any threat to people’s lives.

The officials said at least ten personnel of Frontier Crops and several volunteers were busy in the search operation.

They said that a search operation was launched after the blast in which several suspected people were arrested.
