Widow’s grievance redressed

Published July 19, 2003

LAHORE, July 18: The Punjab ombudsman has directed the Benevolent Fund Board to pay the financial assistance to a widow according to her husband’s pay scale.

Complainant Safia Begum said her husband Ahsanuz Zaman died in 1987 while in service. He was an SST in the Government Model High School, Mian Channu, in BPS-17.

She said after his death she had applied for a grant from the benevolent fund which was approved but the grant was erroneously calculated according to BPS-15. She said she had approached the authorities concerned for the rectification of mistake but to no avail.

The ombudsman directed Sahiwal board secretary who reported him that the correction was made and the arrears were being calculated.
