ISLAMABAD: Police and Rangers personnel on Thursday claimed arresting four members of the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during a joint targeted operation conducted in Sihala area on the outskirts of the federal capital city.

Intelligence sources said the raid was conducted after receiving credible information regarding the presence of militants in the area.

The alleged militants had recently moved into the area after changing their appearances. Several Taliban fighters had reportedly disguised themselves with new haircuts in the weeks before the launch of the North Waziristan operation by the military which had followed an attack on Karachi International airport and failure of peace talks between government and Taliban negotiators.

Security sources also claimed they had recovered two AK-47 rifles, mobile phones and some significant documents.

The suspects were shifted to an undisclosed location for further questioning.
