CHINIOT: An Ahmadi businessman who was shot dead in Shaheed Benazir-abad (Nawabshah) was laid to rest in a graveyard in Chiniot on Wednesday.

His funeral was attended by a large number of Ahmadiyya community’s members.

Unidentified people opened fire on Imtiaz Ahmed outside his furniture shop in the Shaheed Benazirabad’s busy Trunk Bazar on Sunday. He received bullets in his head.

Imtiaz Ahmad is survived by wife and three sons.

His body was brought to Chenab Nagar for burial.

A spokesperson for Jamaat Ahmadiyya, Sale-emuddin, condemned the killing of Imtiaz Ahmed.

He said hundreds of Ahmadis had been killed in recent years, but not a single culprit had been brought to justice.

The spokesperson called upon the government to take action against people spreading hate material against Ahmadis.

An uncle of Imtiaz Ahmed was also shot dead in 2008. Seth Mohammad Yousuf was district chief of Jamaat Ahmadiyya in Nawabshah.
