Israel began its campaign against militants in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, saying it was responding to heavy rocket fire from the densely populated territory. A week of fighting killed approximately 192 Palestinians despite world calls for peace.

Thinker Jul 15, 2014 06:53pm

Take care of your home first rather than poking into others' matters even if they are of your own religions. Nobody comes to help you in your turmoil.

Amin Jul 15, 2014 09:12pm

Where are the protests when minorities in Pakistan are being slaughtered for no reason at all. Stop being hypocrites.

Ganga Din Jul 15, 2014 10:23pm

Where is Qadri? He should take his supporters and go fight. May be then some one will have some respect for him

rameez Jul 15, 2014 11:36pm

Dawn news is a source of improving english and a piece to share with rest of world backed by internatinal format of reporting. It should provide the truthful reports which can help me in establishing my business and analyise the situation. Still i am very pleased with dawn which enact the several fields of society in reporting.

Touseef Jul 16, 2014 06:47am

@Thinker

Its a Basic human demand to seek justice and condemn injustice. That's what they are out there for nothing less nothing more.

Touseef Jul 16, 2014 06:48am

@Amin

I agree! But being hypocrite is one thing and totally cold blooded is another.

Alok Jul 16, 2014 09:07am

I didn't see any major protests in Pakistan for 100,000 killed in Syrian conflict or China banning Ramazan fasting.

Ashok Jul 16, 2014 10:18am

Very good. But where are the protests against ISIS which is killing nay murdering thousands of Muslims and all the other Muslim terrorist outfits killing their own brethren. I have not one protest march against TTP which is killing thousands of Pakistanis. What hypocrisy,

Biased opinion Jul 16, 2014 12:09pm

@Touseef : Where were all these protests in case of US putting sanctions on Iran (Shia), civil war in Syria (Shia govt.) or when China (friend forever) denied muslims fasting on Ramzan? Is Jamaat-i-Islami getting filtered news?

Ahmed Jul 16, 2014 12:41pm

should go to israel and fight them

M. Siddique Jul 16, 2014 05:34pm

@Thinker, that is a very isolationist comment.

M. Siddique Jul 16, 2014 05:36pm

@Ganga Din, Now we know why Qadri is out of sight for a reason.

Magister Ludi Jul 16, 2014 05:45pm

Will the Arabs ever protest for Kashmir? So why should we?

Anon Jul 16, 2014 09:05pm

@Ashok I agree about the ISIS thing but there have been lots and lots of protests against TTP and terrorism. Mind searching a bit?

ijaz Jul 17, 2014 03:49am

The protesters are absolutely right. What Israel is doing to the Palestinians is intolerable. As fellow human beings we have a duty to speak out - its got nothing to do with religion.

That said, I would like there to be demonstrations outside the Chinese Embassy to protest at their treatment of Uighar Muslims. I suspect the Government would take a different view of such protests.

Moiz Omar Jul 17, 2014 03:56am

Why don't these people also protest against Hamas's terrorist missile bombings of Israel?

Moiz Omar Jul 17, 2014 03:57am

Why don't these people protest against the prosecution of non-Muslim Pakistanis? Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Atheists etc...

Shahid Khan Jul 17, 2014 04:39am

This is more of a political stint. I think we should worry about our own survival rather than political matters of other countries and regions. I think first we should worry if we have water, health, education, and basic security for all Pakistanis in Pakistan including MINORITIES. Lets just control the hate that is in Pakistan first!!!!!!!

Shahid Khan Jul 17, 2014 04:40am

@Moiz Omar I respect you brother!!! First we should mourn and protest for innocent killing of hindus, shias, and christians in Pakistan.

True Jul 17, 2014 07:10am

@Alok because this Pakistanis habit

True Jul 17, 2014 07:12am

@Amin : Just Pakistani hypocrisy and double standard, confused society.

dawn Jul 17, 2014 07:21am

@Thinker - Inward thinker.

jayshankar Jul 17, 2014 07:30am

why havent you put up the photos of hamas firing rockets from civilian areas trying to kill Israelites? Israel has early warning systems and interception technology and hence avoid their own human causalities. Hamas has no value for their own people and fires missiles from populated areas? since when is firing rockets into civilian areas not a crime??

zaku Jul 17, 2014 08:40am

@ijaz you have got to be kidding.

Jalaluddin S. Hussain Jul 17, 2014 08:44am

As a Canadian-Pakistani I am proud that Pakistanis back home are supporting the Gazans struggle for freedom and dignity. Long live Palestine!

But by the same token it will not be fair if I do not mention how ruthlessly and insultingly the minorities, (Hindus, Christians and even Muslims included) are being treated by the fanatics in Pakistan.

ProudtobeanINDIAN Jul 17, 2014 02:06pm

Typical human behavior of peeping into others house matters when our house is burning...

gerry d'cunha Jul 17, 2014 06:27pm

drama bazz salik - where was he when christians were killed by muslims in peshawar and else where in pakistan - hyprocrate

Shahryar Shirazi Jul 18, 2014 12:51am

While the killings in middle east are upsetting and tragic, honestly, we have our hands full when it comes to our own land. There are more than 30 Arab countries. Let them condemn these killings if they are interested. I have hardly seen them taking interest. Why are we unnecessarily taking the lead ?

Shahryar Shirazi Jul 18, 2014 12:53am

@jayshankar Your questions are valid. But this is a Pakistani forum :) you need to take your questions to the Arabs ...

Bilal Jul 18, 2014 01:24am

looking at these comments from the bigots i now fully understand why pakistan is in the situation that it is in!

Lucky Star Jul 19, 2014 04:17am

street demonstration does not help Palistinians in Gaza at all, but street demonstrations does display helplessness to the civilized world. Instead of street demonstrations, asserting practical ways that help the Gazans would be more beneficial, so keep your energy and stay at home because you're embarrassing yourself.

Riz Jul 19, 2014 06:12am

@Thinker It's not about poking into others matters. It's actually to protest against inhuman acts and murders of innocent people regardless of their ethnicity religion and country. We Pakistanis are also the victim of the same horrible inhuman acts and we are trying to at least deliver message to stop these killings and murders. Thanks!

L Ahmad Jul 19, 2014 07:11am

Marching out on the streets is futile. Israel does not even raise an eyebrow because we have been marching on this issue for decades. Keep on marching if you think you win.

Respect Humanity Jul 19, 2014 01:10pm

@Thinker Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.(Martin Luther King).I hope you will get the meaning.

Altab Hussain Jul 19, 2014 02:50pm

This is absolutely a double standard. I would like to see Pakistanis marching on the street against ISIS and their activities first. ISIS is now forcing other religions to either pay tax or get killed. This is far more threatening and insulting the religion than Israel who is atleast fighting a terrorist organisation called Hamas.

abcd Jul 19, 2014 10:01pm

@Ganga Din Oh jee, he's busy getting ready for wedding of his daughter on August 12th. Aap bhe aana. Bara dhamaal hoga.

abcd Jul 19, 2014 10:04pm

@Alok Dear, Palestinian issue is a core of all other regional conflicts. Just like Kashmir is a mother issue of all issues between India and Pakistan. Yes people should come out against terrorists killing innocents in Syria and Iraq.

Asad Sharif Jul 19, 2014 10:32pm

Stupidity of Hamaas action in Gaza. There is no use of demonstrating and showing sympathy to Palestinians in Gaza. Leadership of Hamaas is in stupid hands. They pick a fight with an enemy who is much more powerful and smarter. When will muslims in Pakistan stop following similar leaders of Jamaa-i-Islami blindly?

Rehan Jul 20, 2014 01:18am

@Asad Sharif Well said

Tony Vedi Jul 20, 2014 04:34am

I quote Voltaire: Anyone who has the power to make you believe absurdities has the power to make you commit injustices.

Earthling Jul 20, 2014 04:57am

A note about the 5th photo: US flag burning and one dude wearing Nike t-shirt! Mixed messages eh?

All is well Jul 20, 2014 03:39pm

I salute each and every one of you. Today after a long time most of the people are saying that we should not be biased towards any minority community. Killing innocent people should stop and let's hope we all change

Assad Jul 20, 2014 11:11pm

@Thinker That does not mean anything. Pakistanis must and always should raise their voices for the oppressed in Palestine.

Assad Jul 20, 2014 11:12pm

@Amin When are minorities slaughtered in Pakistan like the state sanctioned terrorism unleashed by the Israelis?

Don't compare apples to oranges in your rush to denigrate the efforts people voicing their disgust with Israel's actions.

AC Jul 21, 2014 06:16am

@Ahmed Early martyrdom!! Good luck. But don't fight for your country but should go out and fight for other countries.

patriotreformer Jul 21, 2014 09:18am

@Magister Ludi. Dear, If others are doing wrong, it should not become the cause of us also doing wrong. Secondly, being a democracy (despite all your problems), your values r supposed to be far better than undemocratic clan based monarchies. Pakistan is going through a rough patch but it does not mean that we are not civilized people and civilized people do not divide humans in to races, religions, color and creed. If u dont want to support Arabs and even Muslims, please raise ur voice for brutalities against humans. They are killing children and women and old civilians. Pls support as much as u can.

Last Word Jul 21, 2014 10:47am

Pakistanis hold endless rallies to show solidarity with Kashmiris, Palestinians, Burmese Muslims etc but not a single rally has been held so far for their own Shias brothers and minority communities at home.

Ramu Jul 21, 2014 01:45pm

Pakistani Christian minority leader J. Salik pours dirt over himself in protest against Israeli military operations in Gaza, in Islamabad on July 14, 2014. OMG I thought he is protesting against forceful conversion of Christian to Islam in Iraq.

Ramu Jul 21, 2014 01:47pm

Yes here you are. I was wondering for quite a long time why there is no protest in Pakistan against Israel.

Zafar Jul 21, 2014 01:57pm

@Thinker Thats the thing with Islam isnt it? We are suppose to rise above selfishness and care for the others, irrespective of the response. Thats what islam teaches us, basic humanity, which sadly manly lack these days.
