Pakistan-India battles clipped to two Tests

Pakistan are likely to play only two-Tests against India in each of their three home series in the upcoming Future Tours Programme (FTP) cycle, taking the sheen off one of the most exciting contests in world cricket.

According to the latest FTP on Cricinfo, Pakistan will play at least 77 Tests until January 2023 but its ties against India, which are subject to government clearance, have been curtailed.

Pakistan will also face off against South Africa only twice in the new cycle, despite the two countries signing an agreement to increase ties. South Africa will only host Pakistan in December 2018 for a series of three Tests, five ODI and three T20s. Pakistan will host them just once, for a limited-over series in October 2022.

There will be an increase in the number of matches against Australia, currently the top-ranked Test and ODI side. The two teams will be playing as many as seven series in this period, with Pakistan hosting five. Australia will host Pakistan in December 2016 and 2019 for six Tests and six ODIs.

Pakistan only feature in three four-Test series. Two of them will be played in England - in 2016 and 2020 - and one in West Indies, in 2017. Against West Indies, Pakistan only play two more Tests - at home, 10 years after they last hosted them for a series.

The FTP will be “binding” only after member nations sign their bilateral agreements by the next ICC Board meeting.

Mr. Najam Sethi mislead pakistani nation on many counts and this is one of them. Firstly, The proposed FTP actually has Pakistan hosting 3 series of 2 tests each and then 2 series will be played in india with 3 tests each. It means 6 tests will be hosted by Pakistan and 6 by india. Secondly, there is no binding agreement signed as it is all on MOUs. BCCI seceretary has clarified the situation by saying that all series are subject to a clearance from the government. Thirdly, Mr. Sethi announced that Pakistan will be getting 4th biggest share of ICC finances but it is also nothing but a proposl which is discussed by the board and no document has been signed in this regards. ICC officials have refused to confirm such a decision. To be honest to Sethi, he might not have been in such a comfortable situation in the barganing position to dictate other member boards but I think truth has not been revealed. I also strongly feel that Pakistan should only play test series with 3 tests as a series with less than that is for minnows. And I also believe, PCB is badly failing in sending our A-teams out on tours.

I am at loss to find out that in the next 10 years, Pakistan has no home series against South Africa. The PCB must explain, why we play only 3 tests against South Africa in this period. Wasn't South Africa supposed to be one of our better partners? There should at least be 4 bilateral series against each team in a period of 10 years and PCB is badly failing to secure our playing rights. If we fail to secure these 4 series against SA then just imagine if India fails to show up as in that case we will have very little cricket to play.

The PCB needed to plan so as if India failed to honour the agreements, even then we had enough cricket to play but the PCB has failed on securing that. South Africa was supposed to be one of the better cricket partners for us, specially so after the recent times of wishes to enhance the cooperation. South Africa has always been one of the top teams which attract a lot of fans and we wish Mr. Sethi will at least secure the usual set up of 4 series in ten years which has been the norm for last 20 years.

The PCB is failing very badly here. Just imagine if India fails to play the proposed series' then where we stand with only 3 tests against an other top team South Africa. Usually each top 8 teams plays twice over a period of 5 years and in this regard we have failed in securing the minimum against WI and South Africa. Come on Mr. Sethi, are all of you sleeping?

@Salma I would suggest that you ask good taliban / bad taliban / LET / JUD / LEJ / non state actors etc about why there is no home series instead of asking PCB. PCB is at the receiving of the judgements and actions of the above.

Why are you crying these is the case of big 4 as per claim by Mr. Sethi where pakistan get share now you decide how and when they can get ultimately death of pakistan cricket because no country want to come and play there because you never think what you lost to support good and bad taliban

This is just the tip of the ice burg. BCCI eventually cancel the series against green-shirts as done so many times in the past on various lame excuses, top of which might be that the government of India did not give them permission to play? What a joke?
