Bailable arrest warrant issued against Mubashir Lucman again

ISLAMABAD: A local court in Islamabad issued a bailable arrest warrant against television anchorman Mubashir Lucman after he failed to appear before it.

Additional Session Judge Islamabad (West) Wajid Ali during the hearing remarked that the court had the power to resort to alternative options if someone deliberately remained absent from proceedings despite being summoned.

The case being heard was initiated by the Independent Media Corporation (IMC) and Independent Newspapers Corporation (INC) and involves the leveling of allegations against and alleged defamation by Lucman of a media group.

The hearing of the case was subsequently adjourned to September 6.

On July 2, Islamabad High Court (IHC) had also issued a bailable arrest warrant against Lucman.

He has also been accused of defaming and ridiculing public officials, including superior court judges, during his talk show episodes, and was recently restricted from conducting any programs by the Islamabad High Court earlier this month. That ruling of the high court was however suspended by the Supreme Court.

This journalist has broke all the records of fair journalism by defaming the rival media group and inviting the people against the rivals. One can not imagine how low he can go in his personal animosity. He should be banned for life as an anchor on any television channel.

In my opinion.. We need to understand that we are not each others' enemies in this country. And it is only the political class that derives its power by creating friction. It is only the media that derives its importance by creating friction... that uses every little thing to create this chasm between people. This is not who we are.

I enjoy his rhetoric against India and those who want a love affair with India. I salute him for taking a stand against the most powerful media group and exposing their acts of treason. I don't like his narrative against democratic governments in general. It is perfectly okay to point out problems in the political governments but he presents military rule as an alternative. This is not acceptable. Military rule is not good for professional role of armed forces as well as detrimental to the country. But the way present ruling lot is after armed forces of Pakistan is not acceptable either. All sections of the society must try to get military out of politics and governance. But any efforts to undermine and belittle the institution are not in the interest of country.

A journalist must be neutral for all, but yesterday he told Sheikh Rahseed that he is the fav leader. Most of the time he took sides, he is not a fair journalist.
