Qadri's APC demands Shahbaz Sharif's resignation

LAHORE: A joint-declaration made after the All-Party Conference (APC) held by Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) on Sunday asked for Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif's resignation over Lahore's Model Town incident, where a violent clash had broken out between police and PAT supporters earlier this month.

The joint-notification issued by the APC participants asked for the dismissal of all government machinery involved in the incident and called to for the president to suspend those who fails to do so. It demanded for a commission empowered enough that could summon the prime minister as well.

The notification also demanded for the dismissal of cases registered against the 'PAT supporters affected in the Model Town incident.'

Delegations from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) and Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP) Niazi group, arrived at the Minhajul Quran Secretariat.

PML-Q leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed also spoke to mediapersons on the their arrival at the Minhajul Quran secretariat.

Chaudhry Pervez Elahi said that the Model Town incident will be the agenda of today's APC.

Talking to media, PAT Chief Tahirul Qadri said, “Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s agenda is to overthrow the government.”

Qadri also said that APC was not intended to discuss any political move but the Model Town episode with other political parties.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahmed Raza Kasuri from All Pakistan Muslim League said that the government was setting a wrong example of governance. Kasuri claimed that the prime minister’s speech in favor operation was scripted by the General Head Quarters.

“Nawaz Sharif was never in the favor of operation,” Kasuri said.

However, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP) and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) have already refused to be a part of Qadri’s APC.

JUI-S chief Maulana Samiul Haq said, Tahirul Qadri should go to court for Model Town incident instead of calling an APC.

On the other hand, Pakistan Peoples Party had condemned the Model Town tragedy but denied to be a part of any movement to topple a democratically elected government.

At least eight people including PAT supporters were killed in the Model Town incident.

Police had registered a case against the PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri and 1,300 activists, arresting 70 of them.

They were accused of damaging public property, attacking police, snatching their wireless sets, causing damage to an armoured personnel carrier and creating a law and order situation.

I am entirely against PML-N and I am very uncomfortable with the way in which PML-N functions and governs. But I do not see any point behind present struggle by Dr. Qadri and Imran Khan. The whole nation should back up PML-N government and the opposition must criticize PML-N harshly for the silly things the government does on a daily basis. Suggesting electoral reforms in the Parliament is also okay. But let the present democratic system cleanse itself over time. At the present time, there may be a lot of flaws in the democratic system of Pakistan but the only way the flaws will go is to hang in there and let continuity of democracy cleanse the ills of the present system. Anyone trying to voice their different opinion should contest elections and seek mandate of the people to make any changes. Talking of revolution without being clear on it is only misusing the term. We have already misused the terms like free judiciary, national security, democracy, freedom of expression, religion, corruption, etc. too much.

With PPP surviving its full term, let this government build on that. We need to have continuity in our democracy along with refinement process (electoral system, justice, accountability, anti corruption laws). Getting a good democracy is a gradual and evolving process, cut this government's term short and you are back to zero again.

Speaking in cyber terms, this guy (DTUQ) is like an annoying pop-up, that keeps showing up unannounced trying to sell you a bag of goods that you don't need or want, at the worst time possible. Wish there was a pop-up blocker or anti-malware for people like him, like I have on my computer. Personally, I can never respect a person who tells his followers to "sacrifice" their lives, while himself won't step out of the plane for his own security. The country needs to be united in their support for the troops that putting their lives on the line for its citizens security and freedom. The displaced IDP's , energy crisis, education of its children, economic development, need our energy and attention, not the DTUQ and Tsunami Circus.

It is eminent through the statements of the participating politicians representing respective political parties that the agenda of each party is different than the other, i.e. Pervaiz Elahi says that the agenda of the APC circulates around the Model Town Incident, whilst Qadri says that the agenda of PAT is to toppling the government, another supporter of the odd, Qasoori highlights the most irrelevant topic of scripted speech of Nawaz Sharif by GHQ. The point to insist on goes to the directionless and aimless gathering of politically thirsted bunch of rejected faces by the People of Pakistan, unruly characters indulged in testing the patience of the most capable government of Pakistan

The unfair and unjustified demand of APC (Anti-Corroborative Committee) urging Punjab CM to step-down in the wake of an incident that was the outcome of outrageous speeches, prompting an immediate provocation to assaulting on the policemen deployed to carrying out constitutional obligations and toiling their best to maintaining the law and order situation, unless the PAT workers started playing with the law and order situation. Of late, the somersaults of PAT continued to certain unexplainable extents causing confusion everywhere and hurting the sentiments of the nation stood in supporting an on-going operation against the terrorists.

how ironical is the fact that most of participants in this APC belong to ruling class...what they had done for Law during their times???this must be answered first before demanding such demands from the present ruling party. why they are bent upon mocking more and more the illiterate,innocent,ignorant and poor people of Pakistan inspite of the fact that they are equally responsible for the poor state of lawlessness and anarchy in the country.

Sharif have tight hold on Punjab, the most populous province. As long as Punjab's big land owners, big businessmen are supporting Sharifs, they don't need any support from small provinces. Terrorism can go on in KPK, Balochistan even Sindh, it least bothers them as long as Punjab stays unaffected. Why would Shahbaz Sharif resign ?

@NASAH (USA) -- he may have been HIRED to FIRE but his effort of dharna was MISSFIRED when he had nowhere to go and come out of the Ettihad Plane in Lahore alongwith the Governor of Punjab, who is also BRITISH, so they have some thing in common that is the COMMONWEALTH and he called the Governor of Punjab a very ZEERAK MAN. They must have spoken in English common to British and the Canadian to develop the trust and the common link. The Leader of the Tehreek, feels himself to be very photogenic, as he hurls the V sign, always at the CAMERAS when he is in Public. Qadri is wrong, his intentions could be wrong. Or should i say wrong person is asking the right question. I can understand every commenter here calling Qadri wrong, but i fail to agree with people saying CM Punjab should stay. He should have resigned himself in 1st place, if he didn't, Prime minister should have suspended him until whole fact finding process is completed. Someone has to come up and answer who ordered to fire. If Police deny, Rana Sanaullah denies then who did? People in that building might be doing all sorts of wrong things, but it doesn't give you license to kill someone like this, you arrest them, try them and if found guilty, punish them, but shooting them like this is unjustifiable. At no cost you can replace the value of one innocent life and at no cost you can justify this was a good act. If it wasnt a good act, it was bad and for which culrpits should be held responsible. There is a Hadith, one can live in society where there is cruelty but can't live in society where there is no justice. Justice should be done and justice demands this. No wonder we are in this situation, because we fail to call wrong, the wrong and right the right.

Please then let us know how the conduct of TUQADRI is so maligned and against some people. Pakistani quam is hearing about ROTI KAPRA AND MAKAAN since 1971, and the PPP could not do it, does TUQUADRI has access to some Big CANADIAN AID under the CROWN that he can provide ROTI, KAPRA AND MAKAN TO POOR OF PAKISTAN when even the CROWN could not do that to the COMMONWEALTH OF NATIONS UNDER THE QUEEN of ENGLAND. But seems TAHIR OR CANADA WILL THROUGH HIS INTERFAITH and CHANDA MONEY.
