SARGODHA, July 15: As the water level is increasing in the Jhelum, contiguous villages are facing a serious threat of floods.

The irrigation department reportedly has failed to repair the riverbanks at Jhawarian, Kolowal, Kundan, Bharath and Megha Kadhi. More than 100 villages from Bhera to Sahiwal are facing a threat of flood.

The revenue department has arranged some boats for the rainy days. According to the locals, lack of coordination at the local government level is the main cause of the irrigation department’s failure to repair riverbanks in time.

ROBBERIES: Robbers plundered cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth almost Rs2 million in several strikes in the district on Monday night.

On the Sargodha-Jhang Road, highwaymen deprived at least half a dozen people of cash and valuables.
