Published July 16, 2003

MARDAN, July 15: The acting Nazim of Takhtbai tehsil was unseated on Tuesday as 16 out of 26 votes were polled against him on a no-confidence motion.

The acting Nazim, Khan Badshah, got only seven votes, while three members remained absent from the proceedings.

The seat was vacated by former Nazim Sher Afgan Khan, who contested the October 2002 general elections for the provincial assembly on PPP ticket.

The councillors had levelled allegations of misuse of powers by the acting Nazim and a no-confidence motion was tabled against him.
