This is really bad use of the law to apply terror charges against political protesters! I really don't like Qadri. But this is wrong. Using terror laws against political movements will turn Pakistan into Egypt. This is the end of our democratic dream.

@Sara Y "at least a democratic system is intact" You know the meaning of democracy? Please check Merriam Webster online dictionary. What we have in Pakistan is and should be called "badshahat" and His Excellency Mr. Shareef should be declared the King of Pakistan. It hurts me to even read statements like "democracy is intact". The same democracy that does not give people their right to protest, the same democracy that gives you the right to loot and plunder, the same democracy that bans whatever they feel like, the same democracy where the concept of any accountability is day-dreaming. But, yes, democracy is intact. May God open your eyes because nothing else will.

Seems like the government refuses to let this issue die. They just seem to keep digging themselves deeper into an already deep hole. If they hadn't attacked Qadri's supporters in the first place, I don't think he'd have gotten anywhere near as much attention.

Rule of Law must prevail. Justice must be served. This miscreant and his followers must be given exemplary punishment.

The entire episode of unfolding the ferocious events of PAT workers, telecasted live in which they were beating the members of one of the law enforcement institute (The Police). Such helplessness that has been enforced to the members of the Police by the administration and the back-patting sermons of Qadri, definitely certify the state of affairs in Pakistan leading towards the lawlessness, the sentiments of protecting one person over the system are running across the people of Pakistan as unfair and unjustifiable.

@Ahmed yes you are right that democracy is not in its full potential that it should be - however whatever "loorhi langrhi" we have we should make it stronger rather than leaving it to the mercy of undemocratic forces. It takes many many years for democracy to reach its potential and we are short sighted enough to give more chances to undemocratic forces than democracy itself. look back the history of Pakistan - how many years we have given to democracy to flourish? is a question we should be asking ourselves

I wonder why our honourable Supreme Court is not charging Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif for the killings of PAT workers in Lahore when Musharaf is on trial for the deaths of Benazir Bhutto and Bugti. What is the difference in both situations.????

@honest > Arresting the cleric will not soothe the feelings of the millions who feel that the state has hurt them. Right now the Punjabi people have faced tear gas and lathi charges to beat up their oppressors. They are full of rage and angry they are not being heard. Arresting people is only a short gap move. What you need now is statesmanship to rise above petty political positions and restore the hope people need in order to remain quiet when they face all kinds of wrong.

There is a difference between peaceful protests to bring about change and calling for anarchy on the streets, destroying property and disrupting lives of ordinary citizens. Qadri is just another street thug turned political leader who is an anarchist. Even if his grievances are legitimate, his actions are not. He should pay for not only destruction of property, he should be made to pay for the wages lost by ordinary people and business owners over his actions. Private citizens who have been harmed by his calls should file a case against him and seek monetary damages. Hit them in their pocket book. That's the only way to stop this nonsense form all sides.

Egyptian military crushed the brotherhood. Similarly Pakistan army should crush any radical rebellion whether it's in Waziristan, Lahore, Karachi or any other part of the country.

Looks like Qadri is a Taliban supporter. As soon Armed forces started the operation in Waziristan this guy started making noise and now he is in Pakistan for this specific purpose to divert the operation. Send this guy back to Canada where he belongs.
