NEW DELHI, July 14: India’s new High Commissioner-designate Shiv Shankar Menon will cross over to Pakistan through the Wahgah border on Tuesday to take up his new assignment, paving the way for further normalization of relations between India and Pakistan.

With Shankar Menon as a new envoy to Pakistan, who relinquished his charge as Ambassador to China early this week, Indian mission in Islamabad will have representation at the level of High Commissioner after 18 months.

Before leaving for India last week, Mr Menon at the Beijing International Airport had said he looked forward to his new assignment and stressed that New Delhi would do its best to bring its relations with Islamabad back on track.—APP
