Some 62,000 people are believed to have fled North Waziristan ahead of the military operation Zarb-i-Azb, government figures said. Although many consider the actual figure to be much greater.

The government is building camps just outside Bannu, but in the blistering summer heat — 47 degrees C on June 16 — refugees are avoiding coming to these because of a lack of shade, electricity and running water.
