BADIN, July 14: An anti-Thal canal assembly, organized by the Sindh National Party, here on Saturday adopted a resolution which denounced the construction of the Thal canal.

Participants of the public meeting their hands in favour of the resolution, calling the stoppage of work on the project.

Speakers termed the canal a part of large scale conspiracy to steal water from the Indus river to render Sindh’s lands barren.

SNP leader Ameer Bhambhro alleged Punjab was stealing Sindh’s water purposefully to destroy the economy of Sindh.

He said after seeking opinion of the people, a struggle would be launched against the rulers of Punjab to achieve the rights of Sindh.

Dilshad Bhutto and Hashim Talpur said the Thal canal project had been rejected by the Sindh Assembly twice, but the Sindh government had remained silent.

They regretted this policy of the government, saying people themselves have took to the streets to safeguard their rights.

Those who spoke on the occasion, included Ayub Kausar, Anwar Khoso, Naseer Shah, Majeed Mallah and Wahid Bux Sangrasi.
