Professionals annex trophy

KARACHI, Dec 16: Professional Gymkhana beat fancied A.O. CC by six wickets in the final of the A.O. Floodlights Trophy played on Saturday night at the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium.

Winning the toss and opting to have first use of the home wicket, A.O. CC were restricted to 148 for nine although Asif Butt hit up a brisk knock of 38 and Sajid Ali had five scorching boundaries in his 36 runs.

Right-arm medium fast bowler Tanwer Ahmed had figures of three for 27.

Needing 149 runs for victory, Professionals Gymkhana achieved the winning score of 149 in 19.3 overs, losing six wickets in the process.

Shoaib Malik led the victory chase with a masterful knock of 61, laced with one six and five fours. Humayun Farhat weighed in with 40, slamming a six and four boundaries.

Shoaib Malik was later named the Man of the Match.
