Laying of phone cables stopped

SUKKUR, Dec 16: The Sukkur local government has stopped the telephone department and the Sui Gas department from laying their lines and has confiscated their tools from the ongoing points of work.

The Taluka Nazim, Syed Kazim Ali Shah, asked these departments to pay restoration charges of Rs10 million first, then they would be allowed to carry on their works.

PRISONERS: Sixteen prisoners at the Central Jail-2, Sukkur, benefited from the announcement of remittance of punishment by six months by President Gen Pervez Musharraf.

Likewise, 24 prisoners at the Central Jail-1 were given remittance and released.

INJURED: The information secretary, SPSF, Mumtaz Abro, was injured in an attack and a case has been registered at the A-section police station, Sukkur.

The SPSF has lodged a protest against the attack.
