Crops flooded in Indus catchment

KHAIRPUR, July 12: The cotton and banana crops sown on the bed and catchment areas of the Indus river had been submerged by flood water.

The farmers had sown the crops on the dried up bed of the river and its catchment areas which were not receiving water since last seven years.

The affected areas included Priyaloi, Faiz Mohammad Bindo, Bhanbho Dero, Unnar Keti, Ismail Ja Pirr, Sadiq Kalhoro, Saghiyoon and Sami.

TWO KILLED: Two people were killed on Saturday in two separate incidents of firing in connection with the ongoing dispute between Jagirani and Narejo clansmen.

Nazeer Ahmed Narejo, 28, was killed by some ten armed men on the Pir-Jo-Goth-Sukkur road near Kot Pul. The victim was on his way to Sukkur from village Pir Mohammadani on a hired motorbike when intercepted and shot dead in a nearby banana field.

The police arrested the bike owner, Salahuddin Ujjan.

In another incident, Sadiq Faqir Jagirani, 60, was killed in village Jamali in the jurisdiction of Faiz Mohammad Bindo police station. The Narejo clansmen killed him in reprisal for the killing of Nazeer Ahmed Narejo.

COUNCILLOR KILLED: Two Narejo tribesmen were killed and a police constable injured on Saturday night in two separate incidents.

Armed men killed Anwar Ali Narejo, 30, councillor UC Ripri near Ripri. In another incident, armed men killed M. Tariq Narejo, 40, in village Thatti.
