11 gamblers arrested, 16 escape

MIRPURKHAS, Dec 16: Eleven gamblers were arrested while 16 others escaped in several raids conducted in different parts of Mirpurkhas and Sanghar districts during last 24 hours.

On a tip off, police conducted raid near the water tank in Tando Adam city and rounded up five gamblers identified as Gulab, Abid Ali, Riaz Ali, Faiz and Ramzan and recovered Rs2,000 from their possession.

In another incident, the Satellite Town police of Mirpurkhas arrested Khamiso, Saleem and Misri in a raid on a gambling den in Daim Chohan village while eight gamblers fled from the spot. The police recovered Rs500 from the den.

In the third incident, CIA police carried out a raid near new gate, Sanghar, and arrested three gamblers namely Mohammad Bux, Ali Asghar and Ghulam Qadir while eight others managed to escape from the spot.

Cases have been registered under section five of the Gambling Act with the respective police stations.

LIQUOR: Shahdadpur police on a tip off carried out raid at a country made liquor factory near village Izzat Korai on Saturday night and arrested nine accused, Ghulam Nabi, Faisal, Dad, Rawat, Ghulam Rasool, Khadim, Magan, Mohammad Juman and Ameer Bux and recovered eight bottles of the liquor, 12 liquor drums and material used for preparing the liquor.

ARRESTED: The Satellite Town police conducted raids and arrested two accused, Chetan and Aziz alias Hakko, on Saturday night.

Chetan was employees of Washomal Lohano, a cotton factory owner. He was given Rs27,000 for depositing in a bank but he and Aziz divided the money between themselves and claimed that it had been robbed.

The Satellite Town police have registered the case against both the accused.
