THATTA, July 10: Some 30,000 women out of 100,000 are infected with various diseases during childbirth and over 200,000 children die due to diarrhoea and other diseases every year in Pakistan.

The in charge, Health and Nutrition Development Society (HANDS), Azra Hashigar, said this while speaking at a community meeting at the Bachal Guggo village on Thursday.

The speakers observed that living in a polluted environment, drinking contaminated water and improper nutrition were the major reasons behind the deteriorating health of the new generation.

They said that the people needed to be informed properly about all this.

They claimed that the HANDS was benefiting a population of 250,000 in more than 50 villages through 21 primary health care centres.
