LAHORE, Dec 16: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Pakistan amir Maulana Fazlur Rahman detained at the Chashma Rest House under the maintenance of public order was sent home on Sunday for five days in view of Eidul Fitr, say party leaders.

Maulana Fazlur Rahman was taken to his ancestral village Abdul Khel, Dera Ismail Khan, from the Chashma Rest House under tight security, they said.

He was among five central leaders of mainstream religious parties who were detained in view of anti-America protests lodged by their parties in view of the attacks on Afghanistan.

The others were Jamaat-i-Islami amir Qazi Husain Ahmad, JUI(S) amir Maulana Samiul Haq, Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan chief Maulana Azam Tariq and Majlis-i-Ahrar’s Ataul Momin Bukhari.

Of them, Maulana Samiul Haq has already been released and allowed to go to Saudi Arabia for Umra. Qazi Hussain Ahmad was still detained at the FATA DC Rest House till the filing of this report.

SSP Chief Maulana Azam Tariq was also still detained at his Jhang residence and his partymen here said except for family members no-body else would be allowed to meet him on Eid.

JI naib amir Liaquat Baloch was also detained in Karachi but he was released on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Maulana Azam Tariq has asked the people to observe Eid in a simple manner because of the sufferings of the people in Afghanistan, Palestine and held Kashmir.
