QUETTA, July 10: Curfew was lifted on Thursday morning following return of normalcy to the provincial capital, but Section 144 was imposed.
Army troops were withdrawn from most of the areas at 7am. However, contingents of the Frontier Corps were present on all the main roads and other areas to help the administration and police in maintaining law and order.
However, army troops were not withdrawn from the Mezaeen Chowk.
Frontier Corps and police personnel continued patrolling in the city and its suburbs.
The provincial administration has made special security arrangements for the Friday prayers and troops of the Frontier Corps and police would be deployed at all the mosques and Imambargahs. Army would patrol in and around the city.
#SECTION 144:# The district government banned processions, use of loudspeaker and assembling of more than four people by imposing Section 144 in the city. Prayers and funerals would be exempted from the ban.
According to a notification, the Nazim has banned the use of tinted glasses in vehicles.
Carrying of weapons, wall chalking which might cause ethnic or sectarian hatred and display of handbills and posters carrying objectionable materiel would not be allowed.
The Nazim also banned publication of news, articles, statements, photographs, editorials and cartoons in the newspapers, which could fan ethnic and sectarian sentiments of people.
The notification asked the editors, printers and publishers to provide all such material to the public relations director for scrutiny before publishing.
The owners of the photocopiers were also warned that they should not make copies of such material.
