HYDERABAD, July 10: Human rights activists, writers, labour leaders and relatives of Kirshan Sharma, who was picked up by the personnel of law enforcement agencies some months back in the Tharparkar district, observed a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Thursday.

Talking to journalists, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan member Jam Saqi, writer Taj Joyo and others said known writer and HRCP activist Mr Sharma was detained by the personnel of law enforcement agencies for three months and then implicated him in what they called false cases.

They demanded the withdrawal of cases of anti-state activities registered against Mr Sharma.

They further demanded that the social worker should be given in the judicial custody and his mother, wife and children should be allowed to meet him.

They also appealed to human rights, literary and social welfare organizations and political parties to raise their voice for the release of Mr Sharma.

Those who observed hunger strike included seven relatives of Mr Sharma and human rights activist Rafia Golani among others.

SPSC: The controller of examinations, Sindh Public Service Commission, Hyderabad, on Wednesday announced the results of the pre-interview written test for recruitment to the post of assistant director/deputy district population officer in the Population and Welfare Department, Government of Sindh.

The SPSC declared 85 candidates pass in the written test.

The interviews of qualifying candidates will be held from July 23.
