HYDERABAD, July 10: The 22nd meeting of the senate of the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, was held on Thursday.

It was presided over by the vice chancellor of the university, Dr A. Q. K. Rajput.

The senate after detailed discussions approved the revised recurring budget estimates of Rs246.30 million for the year 2002-2003 and annual recurring budget estimates of Rs256.32 million for the year 2003-2004.

A budget deficit of more than Rs48.40 million is envisaged due to inadequate government grant, increase in utility bills and petrol and oil lubricants (POL) and reduction in bank profit.

The senate unanimously resolved that the government be requested to enhance the base line recurring grant of the university by Rs165 million as other engineering universities in the country are receiving greater base line of government grant.
