KARACHI, July 9: The 36th death anniversary of Madar-i-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah was observed on Wednesday with solemnity.
City District Government Karachi Nazim Naimatullah Khan visited the grave of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah and laid a floral wreath on behalf of the citizens of Karachi besides inaugurating an exhibition of calligraphic display by artist Shafiq Shad Khan.
Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly Ms Raheela Tiwana and provincial ministers Dr Saeeda Malik and Irfan Gul Magsi also visited the woman leader’s grave and paid rich tribute to her for contributing towards the freedom struggle.
They also offered Fateha at the grave of the late woman leader.
They recalled Madar-i-Millat’s contribution towards women’s re-organisation, adding that she had motivated women to seek education and skills.
In a message on the occasion, president of All-Pakistan Women’s Association Begum Tazeen Faridi, meanwhile, paid rich tribute to Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah.
The Government of Pakistan has dedicated 2003 as the year of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah.—APP
