ISLAMABAD, July 9: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has cancelled about 123 residential plots, measuring seven marlas, in Alipur Farash Urban Model Shelter Village, Dawn learnt on Wednesday.

The authority had developed the village on the outskirts of the capital to relocate the dwellers of at least four Kutchi Abadis set up in different sectors. Sources said the allottees had either sold or rented out the houses built on their plots in violation of the rules.

The CDA Planning Directorate had launched a comprehensive survey of Alipur Farash to identify those involved in such business.

The authority developed the village on the directives of the federal government to relocate the flood affected residents of Muslim Colony, Dhok Najju, Esa Nagri and Haq Bahoo kachi abadis. Over 75 per cent shifting of Muslim Colony, situated in the vicinity of Prime Minister House, has been completed, which, according to CDA authorities, posed a serious security threat to the diplomatic missions in the Diplomatic Enclave.

Sources further said the 5th plots allotment draw in the newly-developed establishment would be held by the end of July, and the authority had set July 25 as last date for submission of forms. The authority has so far completed 4 draws and allotted 849 plots of seven marlas to the dwellers of the already relocated settlements of Labour Colony and Muslim Colony.

The sources said there were about 4,000 plots in Alipur Farash. Around 490 residents of Muslim Colony have so far taken possession of the plots in the village out of the total eligible 981 dwellers.
