KARACHI, Dec 16: The Federal Education Minister and Chief Scout Commissioner, Zubaida Jalal, will inaugurate the five- day National Yekjehti Quaid-e-Azam Scouts Rally which commences on Dec 21 under the auspices of Pakistan Boy Scouts Association.

The rally is being organized in connection with the celebration of year 2001 as the year of Pakistan’s first Chief Scout Quaid-e-Azam.

According to PBSA sources, 336 Quaid-i-Azam scouts and 42 scout leaders from all over Pakistan will attend the rally to be held at Gulistan-i-Scouts Training Centre. The theme of the rally is Faith-Unity and Discipline.

On Dec 22, President Gold Medals would be awarded to country’s best scouts at a ceremony to be held at Governor House. It was in this house where 54 years back, Quaid-i-Azam was invested as the first Chief Scout Pakistan on Dec 22, 1947.

On Dec 25, a the participants of the rally and a large number of scouts from Karachi will visit the mausoleum of Quaid- i-Azam where they will lay floral wreath and offer fateha.

The main highlights of the rally programme will include educational tour, quiz competitions, speech contest, grand camp fire and cultural evening.

According to PBSA, a meeting of the programme committee will be held on Dec 20 at camp site to give final touches to the rally arrangements.—APP
