ISLAMABAD, July 8: An international taekwondo championship is scheduled to be held here next month.

The “taekwondons” from Sri Lanka, Canada, Norway, Iran, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, besides those from Pakistan, have been invited to compete in the championship.

“The championship is on the cards for August 23-24 and high dignitaries have been invited for the opening and closing ceremonies”, said the chief organiser of the championship, Raja Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, 4th Dan Black Belt. The championship will be held at Pakistan Sports Complex here and the organising committee is making brisk preparations for holding the event, said Raja Yaqoob.—APP
